Shannen Doherty is maintaining a positive outlook following a recent health update. On the latest installment of her iHeart podcast, “Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty,” the Beverly Hills, 90210 star shared encouraging news about her ongoing battle against stage 4 cancer, revealing that a new treatment plan is yielding favorable results.

During the episode titled “Let’s Be Informative,” Doherty discussed the evolution of her treatment with radiation oncologist Dr. Amin Mirhadi. Despite initial uncertainties after the first four treatments, the actress decided to persist with the plan. “After the sixth and seventh treatment, we really saw it breaking down the blood-brain barrier,” she shared with optimism.

Describing the progress as a personal miracle, Doherty acknowledged the gamble she took by continuing the treatment. Having first disclosed her breast cancer diagnosis in 2015, which led to a mastectomy and rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, Doherty experienced a period of remission in April 2017. Unfortunately, the cancer resurfaced in 2019, and she confirmed her stage 4 metastatic cancer diagnosis in 2020.

Throughout her health journey, Doherty has been steadfast in not allowing cancer to dictate her life. This resilience aligns with the overarching theme of her podcast, which adopts a memoir-style approach. Addressing misconceptions about living with cancer, she stated in December, “People just assume that it means you can’t walk, you can’t eat, you can’t work. They put you out to pasture at a very early age —‘You’re done, you’re retired,’ and we’re not. We’re vibrant, and we have such a different outlook on life. We are people who want to work and embrace life and keep moving forward.”
